Caring
The rating for this key question was Good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care. Staff encouraged people to be independent and responded to their needs.

Independence, choice and control
People told us they were supported to be independent and their choices were upheld. One person said, “I am quite independent so I don't need too much care but the company and companionship from the staff is very important." Another person said, “Whatever I ask for the staff try to provide. They care for me in a lovely way. I can be independent but know if I need help the staff are there."
Staff promoted people's independence and respected people wishes and choices.
We observed person centred care, and caring and compassionate interactions between staff and people.
Care plans were written in a person centred way. There was a timetable of activities with regular activities coordinators to support people on a daily basis.
Responding to people’s immediate needs
People's needs were responded to timely. One person told us, “I do need a lot of help and the staff treat me with respect and kindness."
Staff understood people's needs and could respond to them. Staff knew how to communicate with people that had difficulties in this area. Care plans included information about people's communication needs to guide staff.
We observed staff responding to people quickly and effectively.
