Caring
People told us staff knew them well and were kind. People were supported to maintain relationships and networks that were important to them. People had access to activities and the local community to promote and support their independence, health and wellbeing.

Independence, choice and control
People were supported to have choices and be leaders in their own care. One person told us, “I can have copies of everything they write about me. I've got loads of paperwork myself, I've got my hospital passport, my body maps and incident forms, you can take a look…I've written them too.”
Staff and leaders at Impressions Care House were consistently passionate about the importance of encouraging people to make choices and take positive risks. A staff member explained to us, “The person’s home is an open environment for them to be free and live their life how they choose.” Another staff member stated, “Our goal is to make the person feel safe.”
Support plans contained clear goals and outcomes for people, particularly for how best to support people during times of distress. Each care plan was individual, with a focus on the person and where appropriate, with input from relatives and professionals around them.
