Freedom to speak up

Staff felt able to raise any concerns and understood the importance of speaking up to protect people. One staff member said, “I personally would feel comfortable whistleblowing, I also feel comfortable approaching my deputy manager and the current clinical lead. I do however have concerns regarding some staff members handling of information of concern.” This was raised with the management following the assessment.

The provider had processes in place to support staff to speak up and raise concerns. This included a Whistleblowing Policy that all staff members spoken with were aware of.

Governance, management and sustainability

Staff told us they felt well informed about changes relevant to their role. There was no registered manager in place and the deputy manager is covering this role while recruitment takes place. The deputy manager was supported by the operations director and clinical lead and good oversight of the service and peoples changing need was being maintained.

The provider’s governance arrangements were effective. There were robust systems in place for assessing and managing risks to people. This meant people were protected from risk of injury and their health and well-being deteriorating.
