The key question of Caring is rated Requires Improvement overall, however, the quality statement we assessed Inpendence, choice and control was Good. We observed people being treated with kindness and respect and people told us staff were kind and caring. People told us and we observed people being given choices and their decisions being respected. People told us they were supported in the way they preferred and were encouraged to take positive risks. We assessed a total of 8 quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions and found areas of good practice. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. Though the assessment of these 8 quality statements indicated areas of good practice since the last inspection, our overall rating remains requires improvement.

Independence, choice and control

People told us, staff supported them to be as independent as possible, they described how staff encouraged people to be independent with their personal care as possible. Staff had supported people to move rooms so they could be more independent as they had less distance to mobilise and reduced their risk of falls. People described how their rooms had been moved round so they could mobilise around the room safely. People were supported to eat and drink as independently as possible, people used particular mugs and cutlery to support them.

Staff described how they supported people to be as independent as possible with their personal care and mobility. Staff described how they supported people to remain independent and safe, for example, keeping the environment clear and making sure people have the equipment they needed. Staff understood people had the right to make unwise decisions, staff described how they would respect people's decisions and work with them to make sure they were as safe as possible.
