Governance systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service. People, relatives and staff were aware of how to raise a complaint and told us they felt comfortable to do. Complaints were effectively managed, and people told us the manager was responsive. Staff felt supported in their roles. Relatives told us communication from the service was good and they were kept informed about their loved ones. People told us the service was well led and they would recommend the service to others. There was an open and honest culture and external agencies were informed of notifiable incidents.

People, relatives and staff were aware of how to raise a complaint and told us they felt comfortable to do. Complaints were effectively managed and people told us the manager was responsive. The manager was visible and available, people and relatives told us communication from the service was good. Whistleblowing information was available to staff, given during induction and discussed in staff meetings.

Staff told us they were supported in their roles, felt comfortable to raise concerns or suggestions and felt listened to. Comments included, "The manager is really good, hands on and is well respected" and, "I love working here, the manager is always approachable, staff morale is so good." The registered manager was passionate about creating an open and positive culture in the service.

Governance, management and sustainability

Auditing systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service, this included audits of infection, prevention and control, medicines, care records and health and safety audits. Following our inspection the registered manager implemented further audit systems into the daily walk round to ensure concerns we identified in relation to door wedges and bed rail bumpers could be checked on a daily basis. Development plans were in place and ongoing, some refurbishment was required and included in the plan of actions.

Staff said there was strong team, who were committed to providing high quality care and support to people. There was an open and honest culture and external agencies were informed of notifiable incidents. People and relatives told us the service was well led and they would recommend the service to others.
