Care plans were individualised and explored people’s personal, cultural, social and religious needs. Feedback was sought from people, relatives and external professionals and evidenced people were overall pleased with their care and support. People and relatives told us they were listened to and people’s wishes were met.

Person-centred Care

People and relatives told us staff understood their needs and provided individualised care to them. Relatives told us they were kept informed about any changes regarding their loved one's. One person said, "I get up and go to bed when I want and I have some of my bits from home in my room." A relative said, "We are very happy with the care (relative) is getting. We are kept fully informed of their condition."

Staff understood their roles and were passionate about providing high quality, person centred care to people. One staff member said, "We give person centred care by making sure people rights choices and wishes are listened." Another staff member said, "Staff are good, they are kind to the resident's, it is like an extended family here, that's how it should feel."

We saw evidence people had input from a range of external professionals to meet their needs, including Speech And Language Therapists, District Nurses, GP's, opticians, dentist's and chiropodist's. We observed care being provided in line with people's needs and wishes.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

People were involved in regular meetings where they could raise concerns or suggestions. Action was taken to meet people's wishes, such as St Patricks day celebrations, pizza nights and mother's day reminiscence. Relatives were provided with a newsletter to keep them up to date with key events in the service and relatives were invited to birthday celebrations.

The service provided information to people who had a disability, impairment or sensory loss that they could easily read or understand. This enabled them to share their experience of their care. The service sought feedback from people and their relatives so they could drive improvements, results evidenced people were overall pleased with their care and support.

Staff told us people were listened to and their was a welcoming and homely culture in the service, Staff respected people's equality and diversity. One staff member said, "I ask people their choices before I do anything and gain their consent."
