Well-led
Staff understood their roles and responsibilities and the practice involved all staff and the patients to encourage development of the service. Leaders and management understood the practice needs and had a succession plan in place identifying potential future risks. We found governance arrangements in place were robust with specified leads, there was strong leadership and staff understood routes of escalation for additional support.

Governance, management and sustainability
Interviews with staff and leaders demonstrated there were clear governance arrangements that supported staff to deliver high quality care and treatment that was tailored to the needs of the local population. Staff were clear about their roles and responsibilities. Staff also told us how and who they would raise feedback, suggestions, and concerns to when required. We found leaders were aware of potential upcoming risk and planned effectively to address current and future changes in care.
The practice had a variety of policies and procedures in place to govern the practice. These were accessible for all staff on the practice internal computer system. Staff were clear about their roles and responsibilities. The practice had a clear management structure in place with designated staff members who acted as leads for clinical and non-clinical areas. There were comprehensive staff rotas and workforce planning documents to ensure they were enough staff to meet patients’ needs and any absences were covered appropriately. There was an up-to-date business continuity plan in preparation for major incidents. The practice identified and managed risk effectively and involved relevant staff in decision making when change was needed.
