Kindness, compassion and dignity
Two weeks before our on-site assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 18 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patients commented on the friendly and caring staff, the excellent level of care received, the high level of professionalism and said they would highly recommend the practice. Patients also commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment. They were involved in decisions about their care. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. We were provided with a patient survey which had been summarised, evaluated and discussed in a practice meeting.
The practice had a pink colour theme which was repeated in areas throughout the building, involving uniforms, the décor and equipment. This was chosen specifically by the service to ensure patients felt as comfortable as possible with a gentle and less clinical colour. Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights. Staff were aware of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles. Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff.
