Our view of the service

The Drive is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care to up to 12 people. The service provides care to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. Assessment activity started on 10 June 2024 when we visited the service unannounced. We looked at 7 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Assessing needs, Consent to care and treatment, Independence, choice and control and Equity in experiences and outcomes. For those areas we did not assess, we used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate the overall rating. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, right care, right culture is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and or who are autistic. Staff ensured people were part of their community and used a range of communication methods to enable choice. We met and spoke with the registered manager, the nominated individual, 2 management staff, 2 care staff and 2 people living at the home during the site visit. Following the site visit, we spoke with 2 care staff and an Expert by Experience carried out calls to 7 relatives to gather their views about the service. At our last inspection, the service was rated good. During this assessment, the service continued to be rated Good.
