Our view of the service

Broadway Lodge is a residential substance misuse service in Weston Super Mare. We conducted an assessment of the care provided at Broadway Lodge on the 21 November 2023. We went onsite and inspected on the 22 November 2023. We reviewed safe, effective, caring and responsive key questions. The overall rating for this service is good. We have rated the key questions we looked at (safe, caring, effective and responsive) as good. However, staff did not demonstrate they used the risk assessment framework provided for their handovers. This meant that patient risks could potentially be missed and not addressed or mitigated. The provider had made some improvements to the handover document and associated handover processes in response to our findings at this assessment. We also saw trained Broadway Lodge staff provided acupuncture to clients and local businesses provided services such as meditation. Some clients in the service had the opportunity to volunteer or working in the local community if they were receiving extended treatment.
