Vision Care Collective operates from a Nuffield Hospital in Bristol at:
The Chesterfield
3 Clifton Hill
Bristol
BS8 1BN
The service is also provided from two satellites locations at:
Optimax Bristol, 13 Clare Street, Bristol, BS1 1HX, and
Ultralase Cardiff, Northgate House, Kingsway, Cardif, CF10 3FD.
We did not visit these satellite sites as part of this inspection.
The service registered with the CQC in May 2021. The services offered include eye surgical care, diagnostic and treatment services for, such as, cataracts (an eye condition when the lens develops cloudy patches) and macular holes (an eye condition in which there’s a break in the macula, one of the layers of the eye).
The service is registered with the CQC for providing Regulated Activities of Treatment of disease, disorder or injury, Surgical procedures and Diagnostic and screening procedures. They are registered to provide care and treatment for both children and adults. They are treating on average between 1-50 patients a month.
The service is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 am to 5 pm, Wednesdays from 9 am to 9 pm and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 am to 6 pm. The service also offers surgeries on Saturdays if needed to meet patients’ needs.
How we inspected this service
We gathered and reviewed information prior to and during the inspection which was obtained from the provider. We asked the provider to return Provider Information Pack prior to the inspection and we reviewed it before the site visit. We spoke with the registered manager, medical director and other staff members and reviewed patient feedback which had been obtained by the service.
To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we always ask the following five questions:
- Is it safe?
- Is it effective?
- Is it caring?
- Is it responsive to people’s needs?
- Is it well-led?
These questions therefore formed the framework for the areas we looked at during the inspection.
