Governance procedures were in place to ensure oversight of the home. The registered manager told us they were confident in the team and felt supported by the provider. Staff felt confident to speak up and raise concerns with the registered manager. People and staff were complimentary about the registered manager and their approach.

People, their relatives and staff were complimentary about the leadership of the home. The registered manager had the right experience and passion to lead the team. Some of the comments included , “The registered manager [name] they are on it, they reassure you and then deal with it” and “They support me, with work and personal stuff too.”

There was a programme of people and staff meetings. The agendas were varied and demonstrated people’s and staff involvement in the home and the decisions being agreed. People and their relatives were involved.

Staff knew how to raise concerns and speak up; they were aware of the various channels available to them within the home, the provider and outside. Staff were confident in the registered manager and their ability to address any problems or concerns.

Policies and procedures in place supported staff in speaking up. This included up to date policies in relation to safeguarding and whistleblowing. Posters displayed gave staff options to contact someone outside of the home itself if they needed to raise concerns.
