The overall rating for this key question is good. Within this key question we reviewed 1 quality statement of assessing needs. The management of the service was working with health professionals to make improvements to people’s care. Improvements needed had been identified for those care plans reviewed although shortfalls to the recording of people’s personal care such as repositioning and incontinence had not been identified.

We observed people talking to the manager about queries they had with their care and medicines. The manager was reassuring confirming what actions they were going to take.

The management team had identified improvements were needed to the quality of people’s individual care plans. Care plans were being updated following the suggested improvements identified. The service was supported with twice weekly visits from a clinician at the local GP practice. The manager confirmed this was an opportunity to discuss making referrals, reviewing the person’s medicines along with any changes to how they were.

Staff completed pre-assessments to ensure the home could meet people’s needs. People were required to have care plans for the first week of them being in the home. The quality of these care plans were being reviewed by the quality lead as improvements had been identified by the provider to ensure people’s care plans were detailed and comprehensive.
