People received support from care workers with kindness, empathy and compassion and care workers respected people’s privacy and dignity. People were treated as individuals and their care, support and treatment met their needs and preferences. The provider promoted people’s independence, so they know their rights and have choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. The provider listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes.

People were seen to be engaged in activities throughout the day. People were supported by staff who knew them well and understood their needs. Staff were kind and considerate in their interactions with people.

Staff were passionate about promoting people's choice and independence. One staff member said, “[Person] got lots of new friends. We started off by walking them to the end of the road and watching [Person] go to the shops independently. They now go to town, Meadowhall, and everywhere on their own. We [staff] are so proud of [Person].Staff were not rushed in their interactions with people. They spent time with people individually, observing them discreetly or supporting them to engage if they were not involved in some activity. We observed people were involved and engaged in their care and support.

People were supported to have choice and control over their own care and to make decisions about their care, treatment and wellbeing. People were empowered to have maximum choice and control over their care and support.
