The provider and registered manager had systems in place to ensure the service continued to be well led. People, staff, and external professionals were asked for their views of the service provided. The service had worked in partnership with other professionals and organisations to share practice and introduce new systems to continually improve the service.

Governance, management and sustainability

Leaders described the audits and checks they have in place to monitor the service and to continue to improve the service. We discussed information that had been sent to us and the actions the service had taken in response. Staff knew their roles and responsibilities and were encouraged to voice their opinions and make suggestions. Staff responses to a recent survey were positive. Staff felt supported and involved in the running of the service. One staff member commented, “Great team, all work together well.”

Regular meetings were held. Audits were completed and these reviewed all aspects of the service. Any actions needed were completed in a timely manner.

Partnerships and communities

People’s responses to a recent survey were positive. We reviewed recent compliments the service had received. Comments included “Everyone is incredible” and “exceptional care.”

Leaders told us they were keen to take part in new projects and work with other professionals and organisations to improve outcomes for people. The service had taken part in a virtual reality project with Health Education England to support staff practice and work with health professionals to plan proactive and personalised care. The service had recently taken part in a telehealth project where staff can measure people’s vital signs and send information to a GP hub for evaluation. This had resulted in more timely responses to people’s healthcare needs.

Professional responses to the service were positive. Comments included, “Caretakers have demonstrated high values, determination, and a strong incredible focus to care within the Bay” and “The management team have created innovative ways for managing and training staff such as a bespoke website with a staff portal that has many individual features.”

Meetings and surveys were used to seek people’s views and opinions. These were used to make improvements to the service.
