Governance, management and sustainability

Score: 3

Audits were in place and had been effective in improving the quality of the service. However, the management team explained audits of medicines had been replaced by a ‘resident of the day’ process. We found concerns in relation to medicine records which were accepted by the management team who agreed that a robust audit would have identified concerns in medicines records and led to improvements.

Governance systems were in place and audits were taking place and actions being completed to improve the quality of the care provided, however the process for the governance of medicine records was not robust and concerns identified during the course of the assessment had not been identified by the management team. There was no evidence of any adverse impact on people.
