Our view of the service

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 13 May 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks, and the recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and they were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Grace Dental Care Partnership is in Hartlepool and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. They also provide conscious sedation. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 3 dentists, 3 qualified dental nurses, a trainee dental nurse, a receptionist and a practice manager. The sedation is provided by a consultant anaesthetist. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. On the day of inspection, we spoke with 1 patient. The provider had undertaken a patient survey that they shared with us. This showed a high level of satisfaction with the service, and praised staff. Their response and additional patient feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. We did not receive any feedback from patients through our Give feedback on care system. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. The patient we spoke with commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
