Our view of the service
Southlands Place is a care home registered to provide nursing, care and accommodation. The service mainly provides support to older people living with a range of care needs. This assessment commenced on 11 January 2024 and ended on 5 February 2024. The assessment included an unannounced on-site assessment which was carried out on 24 January 2024. We looked at 8 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe environments; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control; Kindness, compassion and dignity; Equity in experiences and outcomes, and Governance, management and sustainability. Following this assessment, the service received a rating of good for each of the quality statements assessed.
People's experience of this service
We gathered information from people and relatives to hear their views about the service. People told us they were treated as individuals and felt staff gave them choice and control when decisions needed to be made. People said they felt safe living there. Comments included, “I have no worries at all, good staff and a happy atmosphere”, “They give me so much support when I need it, but also gentle encouragement,” and “I feel involved in making choices.” People told us staff were kind and caring and supported them to be as independent as possible.
