During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 31 May 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks and the recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect, and their care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Smile 32 Dental is in the London Borough of Hounslow and provides predominantly NHS dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included the principal dentist, 1 qualified dental nurse, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 dental therapist, 2 receptionists. The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist.

During an inspection in response to concerns

During our inspection we spoke with one person using the service, the provider and five staff. The person we spoke with told us "this service is brilliant, people come from all over to this dental practice, because it's highly recommended."

We found that people were treated in a safe environment and received treatment that met their needs. Policies and procedures were in place for all aspects of the service provided and these were being followed by staff. All staff members were adequately supported and trained to carry out their job roles effectively and meet the needs of the people using the service. A comprehensive induction programme, regular training and annual appraisals were in place for all staff.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided and the systems were effective at identifying shortfalls. Where shortfalls had been identified improvements had been made.
