During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 30 September 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. The practice is in central London and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice was set out over two floors, ground level and basement. There was step free access to the practice and wheelchair users can access the ground floor (there is a treatment room on this floor) only. Car parking spaces (charged), including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with one person who used the service and looked at one feedback questionnaire that was available to review. These indicated that people felt they were listened to by their dental surgeon and were involved in making decisions about their care. One person described the practice as "excellent".

People received care that ensured their safety and welfare in a clean and hygienic environment. They were always examined and treated by a dental surgeon and/ or hygienist and were required to complete a medical history form. Staff had been trained to deal with medical emergencies and there was emergency medication and oxygen available. People were cared for by staff who had been recruited appropriately.

There were appropriate systems in place for the decontamination of reusable instruments and all staff had received infection control training. There was an infection control policy and relevant guidance for staff, but there had been a lack of audits in relation to infection control. Audits of medical records were completed every six months and feedback from people was monitored by the practice manager.
