Our view of the service
We had undertaken a comprehensive inspection under our previous methodology of Maycroft Dental Practice on 22 November 2023 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of regulation 17 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We undertook a follow up focused assessment on 29 May 2024. This assessment was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to confirm that the practice was now meeting legal requirements. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks, particularly in respect of medical emergencies, safeguarding of children, management and maintenance of X-ray equipment and equipment used for decontamination of instruments and for infection control. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation; systems and processes to ensure the practice ran safely were in place and understood by staff. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Maycroft Dental Practice is in Wirral, Cheshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 2 dentists, 2 qualified dental nurses, one of whom is the practice manager, 3 trainee dental nurses, 3 dental therapists and 3 receptionists. The practice has 3 treatment rooms.
