Our view of the service

Field Street Surgery is a GP practice which provides a range of primary medical services from its location in Leicestershire. The GP practice is registered with the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to provide the following regulated activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, family planning, midwifery and maternity services, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. We carried out our on-site assessment on 7 August 2024, and our off-site assessment activity started on 1 August 2024 and ended on 13 August 2024. We looked at 13 quality statements across safe, effective, responsive and well-led key questions. At this assessment we found that staff had undertaken the appropriate training and were knowledgeable in their role, however some systems and processes in place were not embedded to ensure effective governance.

People's experience of this service

The GP patient survey data for 2024 regarding access were mainly in line or above the England average for the questions relating to access. We recognise the pressure that practices are currently working under, and the efforts staff are making to maintain levels of access for their patients. The service engaged with the patients through the Patient Participation Group (PPG) and used internal surveys to involve their patient population; encouraging the sharing of their experience of the care and treatment received. Feedback from people, relatives and professionals who worked closely with the service was mainly positive. People told us that they felt involved in decisions about their care and treatment, the staff were professional and knowledgeable. Patients experience on accessing the practice we received on the day or through give feedback on care was positive.
