Score: 3

Leaders were clear in explaining to staff what they expected from them while supporting people. This was to ensure staff were alert to any potential instances where people could face barriers to their care. We received positive feedback from a health professional who told us staff someone at the home to the GP as they noticed unexplained weight loss. This meant people were not discriminated or faced poor health outcomes as staff were proactive in noticing changes and arranging health support.

Records confirmed the registered manager performed regular audits to monitor the quality of care and people’s experiences within the home. These audits gave the registered manager oversight of the care provided and how people living in the home were feeling.

People were fully supported by staff to ensure they did not experience any discrimination in their daily lives. People were not able to use words to express their individual experiences but observations showed staff were readily available to assist people when they needed support. A relative told us they were contacted by the home to provide feedback on the quality of the service and whether the family member was being supported to have a fulfilling life at the home.
