During an assessment of Surgery

Weymouth Street Hospital is an independent hospital operated by Phoenix Hospital Group. The hospital has 17 beds, including four operating theatres, medical and diagnostic facilities. We last inspected the hospital on 6 and 14 December 2016. Our findings were that they met all of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 standards of care and regulations. We inspected this service using our single assessment framework and looked at five quality statements. We carried out the unannounced inspection on 29 February 2024. We looked at three out of the five key questions, which were Safe, Effective and Well- led. The main service provided by this hospital is surgery for adult patients.

During a routine inspection

All patients we spoke with said they were satisfied with the care they had received. They felt they were treated with respect and kindness. One said "the nursing staff have been amazing and very responsive to my needs."

Patients understood the treatment they were undergoing and had been involved in decisions about their care. They said nursing staff treated them as individuals and they had sufficient information about their procedures and after care. We observed staff supporting patients in a professional and friendly manner.

The hospital was visibly clean on the day of our visit. The hospital had clear procedures for infection control and a schedule of deep cleaning. Records showed there was a regular environmental audit to monitor cleanliness and infection control.

There were sufficient staff with suitable skills and experience to meet patients' needs.

The provider had effective systems to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service patients received as well as to identify and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of those using the service.
