Caring
People were treated with affection, kindness and respect. Staff were understanding of people’s individual needs and worked to achieve the best for them. One relative said, “If you are asking me if I would leave the person, I loved most in the world in the care of Forest Hill House, then my answer would be yes, absolutely.”

Kindness, compassion and dignity
People told us staff treated them with dignity and respect. A relative said, “Staff are immediately attentive and treat my loved one [name] with such respect. They ask them and involve them; it helps to give them a sense of control.” We observed many caring, respectful and thoughtful interactions between people and staff.
Staff told us compassion was at the core of what they did. They said they were there for people, in their home, a guest, it was important for staff to show respect. The registered manager and staff had created a culture of kindness and told us they were always striving for the best for people.
Professionals who worked with the home were complimentary about the approach of staff and managers.
