Governance, management and sustainability
The registered managers were not always clear about their registration criteria with CQC, specifically the interpretation of what in practice, constitutes the regulated activity of personal care. This was incorrect. Resulting in a number of people, thought by the provider to be in receipt of a regulated activity when they were not. No harm had come to anyone from this overly cautious approach. Once discussed with the registered managers during the assessment they reviewed the guidance and adjusted their records. However, there was generally clear and effective governance, management and accountability arrangements. Shared lives workers understood their role and responsibilities. The systems to manage current and future performance and risks to the quality of the service took a proportionate approach to managing risk. Registered managers were able to demonstrate their quality assurance monitoring processes and practices regularly identified issues, allowing for action to be taken to reduce risk.
