Score: 3

There were many very positive comments from people’s relatives about how their family members were supported by staff. One relative said, “ Very caring staff and we have reviews twice a year. They are very receptive and tuned in, I can see they enjoy being with [Name]. [Name] is so contented, their main keyworker is wonderful with them. A further relative said, “The staff know [Name] well, they have a positive behaviour team which is good. [Name] Gets good support with their diet and staff record everything. Monitor absolutely everything and that's brilliant, staff can show me over a month any changes, recording is very good. ”

Staff were very positive about how their colleagues supported people at the service. One member of staff who had worked at the service a number of years said, “Yes, staff are kind to people, I wouldn’t work here if I was unhappy with the way staff treated people.” Another member of staff told us the best thing about working at the service was the way staff treated people. They said, “This is their home, from what I have seen here every one cares about the individuals and are involved in the guys and we will try to make sure they can get to do things they enjoy doing.” A further member of staff who worked nights at the service said, “Yes the staff are kind and I can speak for night colleagues, they are kind they treat people well.” We asked the manager if they would be happy to have a member of their own family living at the service. They said, “Yes I would, its safe, the staff have the right training and the care is high quality. Staff care for people and are invested, and the company supports progression.”

There was positive feedback from external partners about the way staff supported the people in their care. One health professional said, “Care staff will facilitate community activity where possible to help residents feel integrated into their communities. They will support to attend any routine or acute health appointments. They pro-actively complete annual health questionnaires which are submitted to the GP practice to help facilitate annual health checks.” A further partner who facilitated bookings for social activities for the people at the service gave the service this feedback, “I’d just like to say how amazing your staff are with the users they bring, every week they do a fantastic job of ensuring everyone is engaged and having a good time.”

During our visit we saw staff treated people with care and dignity. There were good interactions between staff and people living at the service. When we spoke with staff they knew people and their needs well.
