Our view of the service

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. We carried out this assessment from the 10th April to the 21 June 2024. We visited The Old Hall on 2nd May and the provider head office on 10th April and 31st May 2024. We looked at 12 quality statement across the 5 key questions we use to inform our assessments. This included 4 quality statements from the Safe section, 2 from the Effective section, 1 from the Caring section, 2 from the Responsive section and 3 from the Well Led section. People were receiving person centred care in a safe way in line with right care right support and right culture, from a group of staff who knew their needs well. There was effective oversight from the provider to support the staff and managers at the service and the staff working at the service worked in a caring way to provide people with high quality care. People were supported to maintain as much independence as possible and live a meaningful life.

People's experience of this service

During our visit we saw people were comfortable and confident when interacting with staff. Relatives we spoke with were complimentary about the service their family members received. The staff at the service supported people and relatives to keep in touch with each other and also supported people to undertake a wide range of social activities of their choice.
