People are asked what they want to do. A family member said, “They [Staff] have tried everything to get them to go out, but they understand how anxious it makes them feel, so tailor activities in the home, we came to the home for their birthday because they didn’t want to go out.”

Staff told us they would make reasonable adjustments and ensure no one was left out because of age, disability, gender etc. The manager told us 1 person who would not go out they arranged social care and activities around his illness, so instead of them going out for activities and social time, social time and activities came to them.

People had communication passports in place, staff knew people well and could communicate in different styles, including Makaton. People were asked for feedback about their care, and this was acted on.
