Well-led
There was a clear management structure which aided the running of the home. There were quality assurance systems in place to monitor the home and make improvements as and where necessary. Most staff were positive about the management of the home and told us the provider and management team were supportive.

Governance, management and sustainability
The provider had stopped providing nursing care in September 2023. However, the required application to remove nursing provision from the providers registration had not been made. The provider confirmed after the site visit this had now been done. The provider completed monthly audits of care plans. The provider received regular feedback from people and their relatives . However these had not always recognised the differences in information kept in different areas of the home. Staff told us they felt the home was managed well and there were good governance systems. They said, “[Manager] is supportive. We have assurance systems which we use to monitor and improve care”, “I can talk to the [manager] any time, they always have time for us".
The statement of purpose still referenced nursing care and had not been updated following the changes in September 2023. The information contained in a person's emergency escape plan PEEP was incorrect in the event of an emergency. The provider did not always monitor DoLS effectively through their governance systems to ensure the request for an extension was submitted in adequate time to enable it to be processed. For example, the home applied for an extension of a person's DoLS on 4 March 2024 which was due to expire on 7 March 2024. This only gave the authorising authority 3 days’ notice. The handover sheet provided to us at the start of the site visit for house 72 contained out of date information or was missing essential information for staff. An updated copy was provided after the inspection. Audits and oversight documents were not always clear with action to be taken by when and by whom.
