Since the previous inspection, the provider, registered manager, and staff team had continued to develop and improve the service. People, their relatives, staff, and external professionals were asked for their views of the service provided. The service had worked in partnership with other professionals and organisations to share practice and develop models of care with an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Governance, management and sustainability

A range of regular meetings were held. Audits were completed and these reviewed all aspects of the service. Any actions needed were completed in a timely manner.

Leaders told us about the systems they have in place to ensure the service continues to be well led. The service had achieved a five star food hygiene rating at the most recent visit. Staff knew their roles and responsibilities and were encouraged to voice their opinions and make suggestions. For example, a ‘Bright ideas’ board had been introduced. Staff suggested having a regular roast dinner for families. This had been very successful and one relative told us “Family dinners contribute to a strong sense of community”. Staff responses to a recent survey were positive. Comments included, “Harbour Rise is a lovely place to work” and "Happy with everything.” Where any themes were identified these were addressed with staff individually and during meetings.

Partnerships and communities

Professionals told us they had strong and positive relationships with the service. Professional responses to the service were positive. Comments included, “Thank you for your help and support, a brilliant team” and “All team members have been very proactive in all aspects of care, they have clear communication with the clinical community nurse team and are able to recognise any potential issues and escalate concerns appropriately.”

People’s responses to a recent survey were positive. People and relatives fed back to us they were very happy with the service. Comments included “In a world where finding compassionate care can be challenging, Harbour Rise stands out as a beacon of excellence. Their commitment to exceptional care, personalised attention and innovative practices is evident through their positive impact on the lives of residents and their families” and “The little touches are simply incredible”.

Leaders told us how they work in partnership and collaborate for improvement. The service took part in research projects with a range of organisations. The service had been awarded a Gold certificate for the local Trust’s recent hydration project. Leaders told us how the improvements they made had reduced risks to people and improved the range of drinks and snacks on offer.

Meetings and surveys were used to seek people’s views and opinions. These were used to make improvements to the service.
