During a routine inspection
We found that people making a donation were well cared for, and that the systems in place ensured they gave their donations with the least possible risk to themselves. Systems were also in place to ensure patients receiving the donation were safe and getting the product best suited to their needs.
The donation centre was well maintained and visibly clean. We found some improvements were required to ensure effective infection control techniques were being used.
Staff told us they felt well supported by their peers, the management and the organisation. Donors told us they felt confident that staff were competent and experienced to collect their donation safely and to cause the least amount of discomfort.
Systems were in place to ensure the donation centre was operating safely and in line with best practice and published research. Donors had the opportunity to provide feedback about the service via local feedback forms, through the national customer service team or formally by raising a complaint.
