During a routine inspection

We visited Wythenshawe Hospital to inspect renal treatment services provided at the hospital. We found that two outpatient renal units operated at the hospital. One unit provided maintenance haemodialysis to patients and one unit provided training in home haemodialysis for patients.

We spoke with patients and nursing and clinical support staff.

Patients told us they had no complaints about the service. They described staff as; 'Very obliging and very helpful'. Patients told us that staff were very good at explaining the treatment to them. They told us that staff always treated them in a respectful and dignified way.

We found that both nursing staff and clinical support staff were trained and supported when treating and caring for patients.

We found that the trust had a number of systems and measures in place to assess the quality of treatment and care provided. This ensured good outcomes for patients who used the service.
