During a routine inspection
Two visitors told us that they had visited other people at the hospital and they had always experienced respect from staff. One visitor told us 'the staff make sure I know how mum is doing and I can phone at any time'.
All of the people we spoke with told us that the care they were provided with was helping them. Many people compared the care provided at Biggleswade Hospital with that they had received in the General Hospital and told us that at Biggleswade they were being helped to become independent and to do things for themselves. One person said, 'I feel better now that I have had a go at preparing a meal'. This person continued to talk with us about the care they believed they would need following discharge and who they wanted to provide it. They were confident that their wishes would be considered when planning their discharge.
The people that we spoke with during this visit told us that the staff team appeared well qualified to provide the care that they required. One person said of the staff, 'They know what to do and just get on and do it, they are true angels'.
