All Inspections

14 December 2010

During a routine inspection

We spoke to patients who used the provider's district nursing service and their carers. They told us that district nurses were 'gentle' and 'reassuring' and always treated them with dignity and respect. Patients were fully informed about their care and treatment and said that explanations were given in terms they could understand. The service was described as 'flexible' and the individual needs of patients and their carers were accommodated. The quality of the service was said to be 'second to none' and more than one person described the district nurses as 'marvellous'. The clinical skills of the nurses were praised. One patient said he was able to avoid having an operation due to the determination of the district nurse and the care given to him. All patients and carers said they felt involved in their care and saw district nurses working closely with other health professionals. Many carers said they would be 'struggling' without the help they received. The comments we received were overwhelmingly positive.
