During an inspection looking at part of the service
We found the following examples of good practice:
COVID-19 tests for people were conducted in line with the latest advice to the service. Staff took part in regular COVID-19 testing and this process was monitored and kept under review by senior managers.
Policies and risk assessments were in place to help manage and reduce the risks associated with COVID-19 for people and staff. We signposted the registered manager to some further guidance to support their approach for people living with dementia and COVID-19.
Cleaning routines were followed and included frequent cleaning of regularly touched surfaces so that the cleanliness of the location was maintained.
Staff had designated rooms for putting on and taking off their personal protective equipment (PPE). Adequate supplies of PPE and hand hygiene products and facilities were available throughout the premises.
Visiting arrangements were planned to reduce the risks from infection transmission. Checks were in place and carried out to reduce the risk of infection from visitors to the location.

We found the following examples of good practice:
There was a specially adapted room to support one nominated visitor for each person living at the home.
People admitted to the care home from hospital or the community, isolated for 14 days within their own room.
Staff adhered to personal protective equipment (PPE) and social distancing guidance.
All staff had access to PPE and had completed appropriate donning and doffing training.
COVID-19 testing was carried out for all staff and people living at the care home in line with government guidance.
The premises were clean and hygienic with open windows to support ventilation.
Monthly infection prevention audits had been completed and action taken where required.
