All Inspections

9 December 2013

During a routine inspection

This was the first inspection for this service since registration with CQC in August 2013. During our inspection we spoke with three people who use the service, two managers, and four other members of staff there on that day. We later spoke by telephone to a care manager. We looked at three care plans and assessments and four staff records. We observed a staff debriefing after a group therapy session.

We found the provider made suitable arrangements to ensure that the dignity, privacy and independence of those using the service were respected. A person using the service told us "I felt that I was listened to and respected."

We saw that each person using the service had a care plan specific to their needs. A member of staff told us "We believe in people's capacity to change. People can get better if you provide the right support and environment."

There was good communication with other services and were told "It is essential that we work closely with care managers and the multi-disciplinary teams. That way we know that we are on track."

There were suitable arrangements in place to ensure staff were appropriately trained and were told "This is a great team. We do lots of training. I feel that the organisation values me."

We saw there were policies to monitor complaints and to assess the quality of service. A care manager told us "Staff update me on a regular basis and check that the service is of the expected standard. I would definitely use it again."
