People were supported to experience equity in experiences and outcomes. People and staff received surveys so they could provide meaningful feedback on the service they received. People had activity plans which staff followed to ensure people accessed their local community frequently. The management team understood the importance equality and a human rights approach to care. The service focused on supporting people to live as independently as possible.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

People were supported to access activities and complete outcomes which were important to them. Care planning was person centred and people's needs, wants and wishes were recorded and respected. People spoke passionately about the activities and interests they enjoyed pursuing, and how staff enabled them to do this.

The manager was responsive and aware of the impact of inequalities on people's care and understood the importance of human rights. The focus was on supporting people to live as independently as possible. The manager told us of how they worked with a persons family to aid the person in reducing their medicines and enabled them to feel socially included and empowered. Staff members told us, "We usually work with the same person so we know what their needs are" and "It's about knowing the person and how best to support them. Being consistent and familiar is important".

There were policies to guide staff on how to support people with equality and diversity, whilst respecting their human rights. Activities plans were in place and evidenced active inclusion. People were supported to achieve meaningful outcomes in living skills and community access, as well as celebrating key events and observations in their lives.
