We undertook this visit to check that the provider had changed their recruitment process so that appropriate checks had been carried out on staff before they worked with vulnerable people.

We looked at the recent recruitment records of a number of employees and found that the provider had made appropriate changes to their recruitment procedures and had followed them.

At recent inspections of some of those locations we found that they operated an unsafe recruitment policy that might allow unsuitable staff to work with vulnerable people. We therefore thought it appropriate to visit the Shrewsbury location and check the recruitment processes there.

We found that the recruitment process followed by the service was unsafe. Not all of the appropriate checks had been carried out before some staff were shown to be fit to work with potentially vulnerable people.
