During a routine inspection

We spoke with one person using the service and two health and social care professionals. Everyone spoke positively about the care and support provided to people. We saw that the person using the service liked the staff working with them, and that staff engaged with them appropriately. Community professionals spoke of the service working in co-operation with them to meet the needs people, with one commenting, 'they really look after him well.' We found that care and support was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

We checked that people who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse and found that the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

However, we found that arrangements for the recording and safe administration of medicines did not fully protect people against the risks associated with the unsafe use and management of medicines.

Staff we spoke with were very positive about the support provided from managers. However, we found that training and supervision arrangements did not ensure that staff were appropriately supported to deliver care and support to people safely and to an appropriate standard.

We also found that recruitment processes were not effective at demonstrating that staff were of good character before they started working with people using the service.
