Our view of the service
We had previously undertaken a comprehensive inspection under our previous methodology of Poole Orthodontics Ltd on 23 January 2024 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We found the registered provider was not providing safe and well-led care and was in breach of regulations 12, 17, 18 and 19 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We undertook a focused follow-up inspection on 20 August 2024. This inspection was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to confirm that the practice was now meeting the legal requirements. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. The practice is in Broadstone, Poole and provides NHS and private orthodontic dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 1 dental nurses, 1 orthodontic therapist. At the time of assessment the practice did not have a receptionist or practice manager but was actively recruiting.
