During a routine inspection
We saw that people's care and treatment was planned and delivered so as to be safe, effective and to take into account their wishes. Treatment options were explained as were the risks and benefits. Each person underwent a thorough oral health assessment, including soft tissue examinations so as to help identify risks such as oral cancer. People's medical histories were taken into account when planning and delivering care and treatment. There were appropriate arrangements for dealing with medical emergencies.
The premises were clean and there were effective arrangements for minimising risks of infection to staff and people using the service. Staff were appropriately trained and had access to suitable policies and procedures. There were effective systems for general cleaning and the decontamination of re-usable dental instruments.
People were treated by staff who were supported and trained to deliver care safely and to an appropriate standard.
There were arrangements for regularly monitoring the quality and safety of services provided. People's views and suggestions were sought and acted upon where appropriate. Regular checks were carried out to ensure that treatments were delivered safely.
