During a routine inspection

People we spoke with said they had given consent to the diagnostic and screening procedure they received. Records showed there was a provider consent policy and that staff received appropriate training about the Mental Capacity Act 2005. This included guidance about the main principles of the Act, "best interests" decisions and how to enable people to make informed choices where this was appropriate. A person commented 'I had a letter before the procedure explaining everything, and the gentleman explained everything again today before it started.'

People said they were satisfied with the care they received. One person said 'I am happy with the care I've received.' Another said 'I've had a scan today, they were very thorough.' We observed staff interacting with people who used the service in an easy going and friendly manner.

People were protected from unsafe or unsuitable equipment because the provider ensured equipment was properly maintained, suitable for its purpose and used correctly. Systems were in place, supported by procedures at Peartree Surgery, to prevent, detect and control the spread of infection. There were effective systems to assess and monitor the effectiveness, quality and safety of care.
