Patients’ feedback gathered from sources such as the NHS Friends and Family Test showed improvements in the experiences of accessing care. Although the feedback from patients via the National GP Patient survey was negative regarding telephone access and appointment booking. This survey was undertaken in early 2023, prior to the final improvements made to appointments and general access. We saw the practice was attempting to improve access and there were actions taken to improve people’s needs and experiences of care. This was not yet reflected in the GP patient survey data but was registered through other sources of patient feedback.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 3

The practice gathered patients’ feedback via the NHS Friends and Family Test. We observed notable improvements in the above survey over the recent months. There was positive patients’ feedback reflected in reviews on the NHS UK website.

Practice leaders reported the practice has invested significantly in enhancing accessibility, implementing initiatives like a triage tool and having a GP to work with the reception team in the morning each day to streamline call management.

Data from the National GP Patient Survey (2023) showed the practice was performing below local and national averages for most indicators. We observed that the practice had reviewed the results and has been working to improve the areas of low ratings. This included a care navigation training for the reception staff to improve communication with patients, including introduction of care navigation cards for vulnerable and complex patients, facilitating reception staff with patient identification.
