Alexandra Group Medical Practice is located at Glodwick Primary Care Centre, 137 Glodwick Road, Oldham, OL4 1YN. The surgery has good transport links and there is a pharmacy located in the building.

The provider is registered with CQC to deliver the Regulated Activities diagnostic and screening

procedures, maternity and midwifery services, surgical procedures, and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. These are delivered from a single site.

Alexandra Group Medical Practice is a member of Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and provides services to 7600 patients under the terms of a general medical services (GMS) contract. This is a contract between general practices and NHS England for delivering services to the local community.

The provider is a partnership comprising of two female GPs. A male partner had recently retired, and the practice was in the process of removing them from the CQC registration. There was also a long-term locum GP, a practice nurse, two advanced nurse practitioners, a healthcare assistant, a practice manager, and administrative and support staff.

The National General Practice Profile states that 57% of the practice population are of white ethnicity, and 38% are Asian. Information published by Public Health England, rates the level of deprivation within the practice population group as level one on a scale of one to ten. Level one represents the highest levels of deprivation and level ten the lowest. Male life expectancy is 76 years compared to the national average of 79 years. Female life expectancy is 81 years compared to the national average of 83 years.

We carried out an announced new style focused inspection at Alexandra Group Medical Practice on 31 May 2019 as part of our inspection programme, following our annual regulatory review process. We only inspected the domains of effective and well-led at this inspection. The previous ratings of good for the domains safe, caring and responsive remain in place.

We based our judgement of the quality of care at this service on a combination of:

• what we found when we inspected

• information from our ongoing monitoring of data about services and

• information from the provider, patients, the public and other organisations.

We have rated this practice as good overall and good for all population groups.

We found that:

• Patients received effective care and treatment that met their needs.

• The way the practice was led and managed promoted the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care.
