Our view of the service

Blackmore Vale Partnership is a GP practice that provides a range of primary medical services to approximately 27,000 patients at three sites. Sturminster Newton Medical Centre with branch sites located at Abbey View Medical Centre and Marnhull Surgery. Blackmore Vale Partnership is registered with the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to provide the following regulated activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, family planning, midwifery and maternity services, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. We carried out an announced focused assessment covering quality statements under Safe, Effective and Well-led key questions at Blackmore Vale Partnership between 12-15 November 2024. The assessment was carried out in a way which enabled us to spend a minimum amount of time on-site. This included: conducting staff interviews using video conferencing; completing clinical searches on the practice’s patient records system; reviewing patient records remotely; staff feedback surveys and requesting evidence from the provider. The on-site visit took place on 15 November 2024. At this assessment we found: People were provided safe care and effective treatment in relation to their medicines and long-term conditions. There were effective governance processes to ensure oversight of risks and to monitor the quality of care. People received co-ordinated and joined up care, particularly when transitioning between services. Premises and equipment were managed appropriately. People were given support to overcome health inequalities to ensure equal experience and outcomes. Leaders understood the challenges of meeting people’s needs and responded flexibility to ensure people could access safe care and effective treatment. Staff were supported in their roles and could raise concerns if necessary.
