During a routine inspection
The Windermere and Bowness surgery was situated in a purpose built building all on ground floor level which was suitable for the service it provided. We saw that the premises were adequately heated, lit and ventilated. It was clean and comfortable. There were infection control methods in place and there were cleaning schedules which ensured that the cleanliness of the practice was maintained.
During our inspection we examined the personnel records of three members of staff which all contained the required information. The practice undertook staff meetings on a regular basis, clinical meetings with nurse practitioners and doctors and practice meetings with practice partners. One member of staff told us, 'We are really encouraged to keep up with clinical development. I feel really supported. We attend conferences and have practice training sessions. We also have monthly meetings with our designated clinical lead so we discuss any training needs at these as well.' We found that there were appropriate systems in place to enable the provider to assess and monitor the quality and safety of the service, protect people who used the service and improve outcomes for people.
