Our view of the service
Ash Grove is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 6 people. The service provides support to younger people with a learning disability and/or autism. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. This assessment was prompted by information of concern in relation to staff practice and poor leadership. At the time of our assessment there were 6 people using the service. People were cared for in 1 adapted building with bedrooms over 2 floors. Assessment activity started on 16 September 2024 and finished on 3 October 2024. We visited the home on the 18 September 2024. An Expert by Experience carried out telephone calls with relatives on the 19 September 2024. An Expert by Experience is a person who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of care service.
