During an inspection looking at part of the service

We spoke with one person who used the service and relatives of two others. People told us they were happy with the support they received from Prospects for People with a Learning Disability, comments included; 'Brilliant', 'Excellent' and 'It's all good'.

Care plans and risk assessments were updated regularly.

During a routine inspection

Prospects supported people with a diverse range of needs. The people we spoke with were able to make decisions about their lives, work and to a greater degree look after their homes, whereas other people supported by the organisation had very limited communication, needed full personal care and assistance with activities around the home. Subsequently the support people received ranged from a limited number of hours of outreach support to 24 hour support.

We spoke with two people who used the service and one relative. People told us they were happy with the service Prospects provided. We also spoke with three people who worked for Prospects as support staff as well as a team leader and the acting manager. One person who received support told us: 'Prospects are my family now'.

We found people using this service were protected from the risk of abuse because staff knew how to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent it from happening.

There was evidence that staff had received suitable recruitment checks and training and that they were well supported in the workplace.

We found that records were not always up to date or reliable.
