During a routine inspection
Staff had easy access to contact details for both child protection and adult safeguarding teams and clear guidelines about actions to take if they suspected abuse was taking place. Staff we spoke with were knowledgeable about the guidelines so they knew what to do if they had concerns.
We observed the consulting and treatment rooms appeared clean and well lit. They were free from clutter, with surfaces that could be cleaned and disinfected between patients. An external infection control audit took place in September 2013 which confirmed the practice was maintaining good standards of hygiene.
The practice had guidance regarding the recruitment and induction of staff. We looked at two personnel files and found job descriptions and contracts in place.
We met with two patients who were members of the Patient Participation Group during our inspection. They told us they were made very welcome by the practice staff and were encouraged to be involved in representing the views of patients at the practice.
